Most Reverend Thomas Collins, MA, SSL, STD, DD Born in Guelph, Ontario, January 16, 1947; received B.A. from St. Jerome's College, University of Waterloo, Ontario, in 1968; B.Th. from St. Peter's Seminary, London, Ontario, and M.A. (English) from University of Western Ontario. Ordained priest for the Diocese of Hamilton on May 5, 1973; studied Scripture at the Biblical Institute in Rome where he received a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture in 1978. Began teaching Scripture in 1978 and was also a spiritual director at St. Peter's Seminary; 1986 completed Doctorate in Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome; Rector of St. Peter's Seminary 1995-97; appointed Coadjutor Bishop of St. Paul on March 25, 1997. Ordained Bishop May 14, 1997; installed as Bishop of St. Paul, June 30, 1997. Appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Edmonton, February 18, 1999. Succeeded Archbishop Joseph MacNeil as Archbishop of Metropolitan See of Edmonton, June 7, 1999. |
